Mike Springer is WFTV’s Volusia County reporter. He joined the station in 2016. Before coming to here, he worked at the ABC affiliate in Albuquerque, NM, KOAT. During his time there, Mike reported on the Department of Justice’s investigation into Albuquerque Police Department for use of excessive force. He also covered claims that the Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department allowed dangerous dogs to be unknowingly adopted by the public. The reports led to the city’s director of animal welfare being reassigned. He also covered the shooting at the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood. Mike is no stranger to the Sunshine state. He started his reporting career as a multi-media journalist at WCTV, the CBS/Fox affiliate in Tallahassee. In Tallahassee, he covered everything from politics to schools to breaking-news and weather. Mike is originally from Connecticut and is a graduate of Providence College in Rhode Island. He and his wife look forward to calling Volusia County home.
